Injection Mold Manufacturing Guide: Design, Tooling & Production
Understand the complete mold development process, including DFM review, tooling design, mold trial and production validation.
What information do you need to quote a custom injection mold?
We need 3D CAD files, part drawings, material requirements, estimated production volume, surface finish requirements and any critical tolerance specifications to evaluate tooling requirements and provide an accurate quote.
How long does it take to manufacture an injection mold?
Mold lead time depends on part complexity, mold structure, cavity quantity, material selection and validation requirements. Typical projects include DFM review, mold design, machining, assembly and T1 trial before production approval.
What types of injection molds can Maidder manufacture?
Maidder provides custom injection molds including prototype tooling, bridge molds, production molds, multi-cavity molds, insert molding tools, overmolding tools and complex molds with slides or lifters.
How do you ensure an injection mold is ready for production?
We use DFM analysis, mold flow simulation, precision machining, T1 trial validation and dimensional inspection to optimize mold performance before transferring into stable injection molding production.
What mold materials and steel grades do you use?
We select tooling materials based on production volume, part requirements and expected mold life, including aluminum, soft steel, P20, 718, NAK80, S136 and other customized mold steels.
Can you modify or optimize an existing injection mold?
Yes. We support mold repair, design optimization, engineering changes, cavity improvements and production troubleshooting to improve mold performance and extend tooling life.
